Max Cavitch is Associate Professor of English and Co-Director of the Psychoanalytic Studies program at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also edits the blog, “Psyche on Campus.” He is the author of American Elegy: The Poetry of Mourning from the Puritans to Whitman and of numerous articles on American and African American literature, cinema, poetry and poetics, and psychoanalysis.
